Voices of the Bridge — Ep. 1: "My best friend is Tutsi, and I am Hutu"

For the very first episode of Voices of the Bridge, two childhood friends — one who identifies as Hutu, the other as Tutsi — describe how their friendship withstood the rhetoric of division, sometimes within their own families.

Through their story we explore a simple but essential question for the Great Lakes region: how do you reject an ethnic label without denying where you come from? They share childhood memories, their disagreements, and the concrete gestures that brought them together rather than apart.

A conversation about trust, forgiveness, and the responsibility of young people in building lasting peace across the DRC, Rwanda and Burundi.
