Dark Days: Carlyto Lassa is no more

Renowned singer Charles Ndombasi, better known by the stage name Carlyto Lassa, has died in the United States on Monday, 31 August 2026, at the age of 65 following a heart attack.

Carlyto Lassa passed away while visiting America, although he had been living in France since the 1990s. He performed and composed several hit songs, including Kiti Kwala, Don Padrino, Kotika te, Doudou a Mwen, Tuba Tuba, Na Makolo ya Masiya, Tala Mwana na Mpate, and La Reconnaissance.

Born in 1961 in Kongo-Central, Carlyto Lassa grew up in Kinshasa and began his musical career with the TP OK Jazz orchestra in the 1980s before joining Choc Stars, where he rose to prominence as a vocalist and singer-songwriter.

Throughout his career, he performed numerous tracks that cemented his reputation in Congolese music. He later converted to Christianity, shifting his focus towards gospel music and pastoral ministry.
